چکیده

Events such as atmospheric gas dispersion by industrial accidents or processes are generally predicted with Gaussian plumes, coupled with local models of gas emission. In this contribution we investigate the association of integral models of instantaneous emission with Gaussian dispersion processes for predicting the progression of potentially hazardous low-altitude emissions over sensitive or populated areas. We develop a novel, more accurate approach suitable for dynamic, high spatial resolution atmospheric conditions by means of gas plume fragmentation and parallel estimation of extent and

Modelling the catalyst fragmentation pattern in relation to molecular properties and particle overheating in olefin polymerization

A two-dimensional single particle finite element model was used to examine the effects of particle fragmental pattern on the average molecular weights, polymerization rate and particle overheating in heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta olefin polymerization. A two-site catalyst kinetic mechanism was employed together with a dynamic two-dimensional molecular species in diffusion-reaction equation. The i...

5 D ec 1 99 7 Remark on the relation between passive scalars and diffusion backward in time Paolo Muratore - Ginanneschi

The theory of stochastic differential equations is exploited to derive the Hopf's identities for a passive scalar advected by a Gaussian drift field delta-correlated in time. The result holds true both for compressible and incompressible velocity field.

A Scale-space Analysis of Multiplicative Texture Processes

Gaussian Scale-space describes the local structure of images. This paper shows a stochastic analysis of the diffusion equation as put forward by Koenderink (1984) for regular images. Important classes of the stochastic process which are structurally described by the diffusion analysis include Brownian fractals, Markovian textures, and fragmentation processes. The analysis shows the diffusion co...

Driven binary mixtures: Clustering and giant diffusion

– We study noise-assisted transport in a binary mixture of overdamped interacting particles. As one species (termed “active”) is subject to a weak dc drive, the other one (termed “passive”) can be dragged along due to the clustering of particles of both species. On increasing the external drive, clusters of different size fragment at different thresholds that depend on the mixture temperature, ...

Radon Determination by Activated Charcoal Adsorption and Liquid Scintillation Measurement

A passive diffusion method for the determination of radon concentration has been optimised and calibrated. The device consists of a scintillation vial containing activated charcoal, a diffusion barrier and a desiccant agent. The response to diverse atmospheric humidity and variable exposure intervals was studied. The result is a detector independent of atmospheric humidity till 7 days of exposu...
